Hi Ernobe, thanks for participating here too. I'm surprised you found this site actually! It's purpose right now is to build lists of articles by volume or by author, or on bahaipedia to build full citations from just a reference to volume, issue and page number which I am currently setting up right now. One downside is items appear in the order in which they are added, so if you want them in a certain order you might have to delete and re-add entries. David (talk) 08:05, 30 November 2023 (PST)
- The "edit interlanguage links" link appeared on the tools sidebar on my Vector-2022 skin, which brought me here. But it doesn't work, (doesn't show the interwiki language links), probably because we're not on MW 1.40 (yet). Ernobe (talk) 08:38, 30 November 2023 (PST)
- Something must be misconfigured on the backend for the pages to be connecting but the interwiki links not automatically populating as they should, I don't think it depends on 1.40 because that feature has been out for a long time. In any case, after I clear my current backlog of work I'll return to that issue. David (talk) 09:02, 30 November 2023 (PST)
Q1223[edit]
Hi Ernobe. Thank you for your edits to Q1223 (Robert Gulick, Jr.) but I needed to revert them. Q1223 is for the person named Robert Gulick, Jr. and not the article named Robert Gulick, Jr.. On sites like this if you want describe separate ideas/things/people would need to create a new item to do it even if they have the same title. For example if you search this site for "With Our Readers" (or search wikidata.org for "Editorial") you will find a dozen or more seemingly duplicate entries. This is necessary because each one is tied to a different parent issue. External programs making queries for data will expect that data to be structured a certain way. If you want to add new items I'd suggest first figuring out how that data is going to be referenced programmatically, how you (or another editor) can keep track of the status of the work and what the goal is. For example with my work on adding articles from World Order I started with Volume 1 and now I'm on volume 7, it's easy for others to know what is done or not. It would be quite difficult to decipher the status and fill in gaps if the work was not done systematically. David (talk) 06:40, 20 December 2023 (PST)
- I also added "World Order of Bahá’u’lláh" as an alias for Bahá’í Faith (Q534) (based on the Guardian saying it could be used to signify the same thing). Should it be a separate item, to distinguish it from the book of the same name (Q203)? Ernobe (talk) 07:34, 20 December 2023 (PST)
Captions[edit]
Regarding Q9 don't add a non-English language value with content that is the exact same as the English language value, it's wasted effort, instead in Lua if the specific language you want doesn't exist for a parameter just fallback to the English language value. See here for example the functions getItemLabel, getMonolingualText, and getMonolingualTextFromQualifier (used for captions) all have fallbacks to English so there is no reason to add other languages if the value is the same as the English value. reference URL[edit]
I've reverted some of your edits that used this property. It's for references, not general external links. I think Brett is working on some way to generate links to bahai-library.com also. David (talk) 02:09, 27 February 2025 (CET)
